Bowen ferry schedule and tracking goes high-tech with new electronic info board

It's replacing the ol' glance across the sound – "Can you see the ferry yet?"

BC Ferries installed this new sign in Snug Cove Wednesday morning.

With tourist season looming, Bowen's bracing for the annual surge in ferry drama and complaints. But a new sign in Snug Cove will hopefully assuage some tourist confusion.

Tucked behind the BC ferries washrooms, beside Bowen's government dock, in front of Bowen Island Roasting Co., is a new electronic information board that displays the next ferry sailing, where the ferry is on its route (updated every few minutes) and a selection of BC Ferries ads. The display is essentially what you would see in the waiting rooms in Horseshoe Bay.

BC Ferries installed the sign Wednesday morning.

The sign is getting some goodnatured mocking from locals who point out that from the government dock you can see the ferry nearly all the way to Horseshoe Bay.
