Bowen Island Municipal Council will consider declaring a state of local emergency at its regular council meeting Monday.

Though the municipality has already asked that visitors stay away, a press release from the Municipality Saturday evening stated that declaring the emergency could give BIM the authority to restrict travel to the island among other powers.

"To make a submission to Council regarding this possibility, please send an e-mail to mayorandcouncil@bimbc.ca," said the press release.

Though council is only to consider time-sensitve matters at its Monday meeting, among the other things to be considered are the five-year financial plan (the budget) and a suspension of a part of the council procedure bylaw that only allows two members of council to participate electronically in the meeting.
