Bowen’s winter market kicks off

The market runs every week between now and Christmas

Fairs and markets will find a way on Bowen Island.

Despite a pandemic and a couple of weeks of delays, the first Bowen Island Winter Fair kicked off last Saturday morning.  “We had lots of people come along to join us (almost everyone came along in their masks as we asked),” said organizer Helen Platts.

Running every Saturday between now and Christmas from 10 a.m. to noon, the socially-distanced but indoor fair at Collins’ Hall features artisans, crafters, food, produce, home baking, jewellery and more.

The health inspector dropped in for the inaugural event and Platts said he was very happy with the setup. “He didn’t ask for any changes and told us to carry on as we were,” she wrote. “So that’s wonderful!”
