GUELPH — A Guelph police officer is facing an assault charge following an investigation into an incident that took place earlier this year.
Guelph police say they received a complaint following an interaction between a citizen and an on-duty officer that occurred on Jan. 13.
After an investigation by Halton regional police, a 13-year member of the Guelph Police Service was charged with assault.
Guelph police say the officer has been reassigned to administrative duties.
Police say the officer is set to appear in court on June 13.
Guelph police say the force's professional standards unit will also investigate the circumstances of the incident.
