Dear Editor,
I trust the Undercurrent reported the Mayor accurately. The game is being stepped up is so satisfying to hear. A man of action! Council now understand that AirBnB has switched rental properties on Bowen from long term island workers to the short term tourism. But wait I read further. The problem that needs addressing is noise in the BnB not how the BnB is being used in contravention of our bylaws.
The message here is clear: landlords keep your tenants quiet and we will turn a blind eye to illegal bed and breakfast operations. Really, this was about the game being stepped up? To me it is more about protecting the single family home owners quality of life and value of their property than any island worker loosing their home or living in fear of loosing their home.
This is another example of throwing businesses and the staff of Bowen businesses under the bus. Let them eat cake springs to mind, no, I said that last time.
I am am left to conclude the whole Bowen Island political process is broken.
