Letter: Smokers shouldn't walk away from their responsibilities

It’s almost summer and it’s dry already. A no-smoking ban is in effect in Crippen Regional Park and signs have been posted. Unfortunately “Pall Mall Blue” and “Belmont” neglected to heed the warnings.

Some people might want to stop for a cigarette during their walk through Crippen Park. But one reader implores them to take their butts with them.

It’s almost summer and it’s dry already. A no-smoking ban is in effect in Crippen Regional Park and signs have been posted. Unfortunately “Pall Mall Blue” and “Belmont” neglected to heed the warnings.

It’s peaceful sitting on the bench in the Memorial Garden, reflecting on life or remembering a loved one. Please respect this beautiful setting.

Fewer and fewer areas today allow smoking. If you are a smoker it’s downright annoying, but if you must smoke please pick up your darn butts and dispose of them appropriately. Don’t butt them out on the ground as you’re sitting on the bench enjoying the serene surroundings of the garden and then walk away.
