Dear Editor,
Your article on the Bowen Video Store (13 February 2015) described the Netflix danger to video stores, including the Bowen store. There is an obvious niche in which independent video stores can survive: Netflix and other large services do not have good catalogues of films in languages other than English, low-circulation indie films, and films off the narrow mainstream interests. Could our store survive by developing such a catalogue? It depends on whether we are really a community of artists and independent thinkers, or simply the outer limit of West Van.
