CARROT RIVER — RCMP have charged a Saskatchewan woman with manslaughter in the death of a child.
Mounties say 23-year-old Karrena Young of Shoal Lake Cree Nation was to make a court appearance in Melfort, northeast of Saskatoon.
Police received a report Friday about a child under 10, who had been seriously hurt at a home on the First Nation.
They say the child was unresponsive and died in the home after officers attempted life-saving measures.
Police say the death was deemed suspicious.
They add the woman and child were known to each other but gave no other details.
