The 2025 May long weekend Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes the risk of thunderstorms and rain.

Metro Vancouverites hoping to see sunshine over the Victoria Day long weekend might be disappointed.

While spring weather can evolve quickly, the current long weekend forecast includes a high probability for showers, unsettled conditions, and possibly thunderstorms.

The Tuesday, May 13 forecast includes a mix of sun and cloud during the day with a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight.

Unfortunately, the sun isn't expected to appear much more for the rest of the week.

Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Erven tells V.I.A. this week's weather "is a mix of everything," with unsettled conditions province-wide, particularly on the coast.

Westerly winds are expected to bring a series of "weak weather systems" to coastal B.C. through the May long weekend. Periods of wet weather are expected, with a 30 per cent chance of showers on Wednesday and periods of rain on Thursday, she explains.

Friday's forecast includes the possibility of sunshine, but showers are expected to commence again overnight.

Long weekend Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes risk of thunderstorms

Temperatures around the seasonal average are expected through the week and into the weekend. The average is a high of 17 C and a low of 8 C, based on Environment Canada's historical weather data.

Starting Saturday, there is an increased risk of thunderstorms on the South Coast. With more people planning recreation, Erven cautions them to "keep their eyes on the sky."

"When thunder roars, go indoors," she underscores. "There is no safe place outdoors. Go to a solid building or a hard vehicle."

While a risk of thunderstorms exists, no organized storms are expected to bring significant moisture or wind, warranting warnings.
