Metro Vancouver police car chase results in gun, drug charges

A loaded handgun was allegedly found in a vehicle occupied by William Richard Hambler and Calvin James Lynch.

Two men are facing multiple drug, firearm and police obstruction charges resulting from events on July 15.

William Richard Hambler, 31, and Calvin James Lynch, 29, appeared before Vancouver Provincial Court Judge James Henry July 18, their second appearance in the case.

Together, Hambler and Lynch are charged with:

• possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;

• possession of a loaded handgun without a licence or registration;

• occupying a vehicle knowing a handgun was in the vehicle; and,

• possession of an imitation handgun.

Lynch is also charged with failing to stop when being pursued by police, obstruction of a police officer and possession of ammunition and possession of a handgun while prohibited.

Hambler is also charged with obstructing a police officer.

The two are being held at North Fraser Pretrial Centre but are prohibited from communicating with each other except through their lawyers, according to court documents.
