British Columbia's wildfire service says long weekend weather conditions caused "very aggressive fire activity" on several active blazes in the province's central fire zone. The service says the area covering the Vanderhoof and Fort St.

A pedestrian who was struck in a crosswalk was pronounced dead on scene, while a motorcyclist in another collision is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“The initial indications are that the SUV veered into the oncoming lane of the garbage truck and collided head on.”
