Update: Gary Ander is Bowen's mayor elect after a ballot recount Tuesday morning.

In the closest mayoral race the island’s ever seen, decided by a matter of two votes, Bowen has elected Gary Ander as mayor. Melanie Mason and Ander were neck and neck for most of the evening, with Mason for the most part leading, until the very end.

Pieter Dorsman is the only current trustee not to be re-elected while Lynne Block is a new trustee.

Gary Ander has defeated Melanie Mason by 2 votes. It's up to the mayoral candidates to ask for a recount. If there is one, it would likely be Tuesday. This is the closest a mayoral race has ever been.
