Dear Editor, What a moving celebration of Howe Sound last Sunday at the Gallery at Artisan Square.

We all remember the fantastic return of chum spawners to the Lagoon and Davies Creek last year, which started about October 17th and lasted for 3 weeks.

Peggy Proudlock was a friend of mine for many years. She was a tireless cheerleader for life. She was always curious and interested about my teaching and children, and invariably took the time to listen to me describe my day.

There I was with my fifth load of manure pushing with all my might to get the load to our upper garden. Puffing away, arms aching under the strain, I reminded myself to get the truck load delivered up hill next year.

Islanders are no-doubt clocking some serious beach-time these days. It’s scorching out there, and living on Bowen gives us enviably easy beach-access. Trips to our island’s shorelines at high-tide these days can be a little disheartening, though.
