Basia & Paul Lieske: Paul and Basia are the epitome of a power couple. Basia leads the way by bringing enormous energy to many Bowen Island events. Paul works quietly and hard behind the scenes. They couldn’t do it without one another. Basia has organized the Light Up The Cove Christmas festival, one of the highlights of the holiday season, for the past 25 years. They continuously help with many events by lending out equipment and helping with set up and take down. Basia has run the summer craft market for over a decade, served as a commissioner for the recreation committee and prepares Tourism Bowen’s annual pancake breakfast at the Round Bowen Sailboat Race, where she is also a director. Both Paul and Basia are heavily involved with Cates Hill Chapel where Basia teaches Sunday School. They have many ties to Bowen businesses including the Union Steamship Company store.
