The puppet standing at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) podium May 16 wore lace doilies painted with dollar-store sparkles. A crinoline cage hung from her golden canvas corset and a dark floral crown held back curls. She looked like she belonged among the 250-odd suspended figures behind glass cases she’d so carefully curated. Former islander Dr. Nicky Levell was opening Shadows, Strings and Other Thing, the exhibit she curated at MOA. Local costume designer Ines Ortner designed Levell's ensemble for the opening. The show runs form May 16 to October 14.
