Taps started flowing at Bowen Island Pub II Friday afternoon.

People start accumulating at the end of Dorman Road at around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon as they wait for the new pub's ribbon cutting.

Gathering in the shadow of the old pub, there's much weight shifting and arm crossing as locals wait to taste the latest local fare.

Folks are in good humour as they watch the pub's doors, waiting for Glenn Cormier and the pub staff to emerge.

The pub owners, their families, and the pub staff emerge to a cheering crowd, and the ribbon is cut.

The crowd claps as owner Glenn Cormier acknowledges the project manager for the pub construction, Stacy Beamer (centre).

Ribbon is cut, speeches are done, and the crowd surges forward, eager to see if beer tastes the same in a pub with level floors.

The new pub's pool table is lacking the infamous obstacle of its predecessor - a steel-sheathed post. This player doesn't seem to mind.

There was no style more popular than a Bowen Island Pub t-shirt Friday afternoon.
