Summer biking camps with Dan Cowan are the fastest and safest way for your kids to learn how to ride the Bowen trails safely. Cowan works on confidence and balance while riding with the kids.

On Sunday, July 13, the Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC) is sponsoring a free guided tour of Lieben hosted by Bowen Island’s own Bernice Lever. This event is being held in conjunction with Steamship Days as part of Bowen’s celebration of summer.

There are times in all of our lives when we need help. Maybe a disaster has struck — a devastating illness, a fire, an accident. Maybe we have a cause or charity we want to support.

A Moai on Bowen? The impressive statue has found a new home in the spectacular garden of John and Eileen Lord and it surprised visitors at this month’s Bowen Island Garden Club open-house held last Sunday.

Maggie Cumming left a lasting gift to Bowen through a bequest to the Bowen Island Community Foundation. The Maggie Cumming Legacy Fund that was established as a result of her gift, and it provides provides three annual grants.

It is summer and even the tireless volunteers at the Knick Knack Nook need holidays. The result is that the Nook needs more volunteers to help with our regular shifts. We operate two shifts a day, Thursday through Monday.

In 1963, the Union Steamship Company ceased its operations on Bowen, bringing about the end of the resort age on the island.

As curator of Steamship Days since it’s inception I am pleased to present our third year’s line-up.
