Dear Bowen Island, The Green Man would like to pass along his deep appreciation to all of the children who came out for our Green Man Festival this May long week-end.

The messaging around aging pretty much goes something like this: you are old, so you are sick - take X to get fixed. Feel tired? Try this hormone supplement. Got some wrinkles? Try our newest Botox therapy.

Dear Editor, When Metro bought Crippen, there existed over 100 cottages that had belonged to Union Steamship resort. They decided some, which were scattered amongst some old evergreen trees, would be torn down.

Canada’s 150th birthday is an invitation to look back and the emerging number of stories cannot be counted. I, too, have a few and one in particular connects me with Bowen Island, the Union Steam Ship Company and the Orchard.

Crippen Park’s Orchard Cottages: A Long History of Heritage Neglect

Dear Editor, There was a policy in Crippen Park to frustrate the beavers in an effort to drown the last alders in the swamp. This effort changed, now our oldest seniors are frustrated in their effort to keep moving from bench to bench to bench.
