Dear Editor, Sporting fashionable felt antlers, 29 Reindeer pranced across our fair isle Saturday morning via the lesser known cross-island trail raising over $2000 for the Bowen Island Christmas Hamper.

It’s all too easy to feel down in the dumps when the non-working hours in the day are spent in the dark. My mind tells me constantly that it’s bed time. My child, however, reminds me that it is not. And I am very glad that he did on Saturday evening.

Three children, five schedules, multiple personalities and fifteen years of marriage: I tell you, sometimes the only thread that holds this family together is the intangible bond of ritual.

When the municipality’s Economic Development Committee (EDC) proposed to develop a consistent brand for Bowen Island, my friend Virginia Penny, a graphic designer, told me she came up with a slogan soon after she moved here - Bowen Island: Breathe De
