Thank you to all the people that have donated to the bike park so far. We have had bakes sales, toy sales and personal donations that have helped make a bike park on Bowen a reality.

BICS gym seems to glow from within at Family Day event

“This is the most important conversation happening in Canada right now,” said Indigenous Services Minister, Jane Philpott, at a recent forum. She was speaking about conversation on the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous in Canada.

Bob Baker, the unofficial cultural liason to Bowen Island Community School, spent all of Thursday teaching students in each grade the Squamish language song Spakwus Slolem, The Eagle Song.

Last year, the inauguration of Donald Trump to the office of US president brought people across the globe, and on Bowen, to their feet to march for equality and women’s rights. Roughly fourty Bowen Islanders marched again on Saturday morning.

In 2014, your Bowen Island Community Foundation sponsored its first Vital Conversations to determine the needs of the community - straight from the people who live here.

Last weekend, the gym at BICS was packed with education, products and professionals focused on emergency preparation.
