If you’ve never heard of FOBILS (Friends of the Bowen Island Library Society) don’t beat yourself up, they are one of those highly productive and committed volunteer groups that has been running forever but not making a big deal about it.

If you amble through Crippen Park between the fish ladder and library, you might happen upon a group of small children giddily banging sticks on trees, inspecting worms, painting and listening to stories – even on the wettest days.

On Easter Sunday Bowen Island horse owners and the Riders Association hosted Easter with horses at the meadow. We had 10 horses and over 20 riders participate. In the open division we have riders who can independently ride a horse.

At the BICS Community Playground grand opening on Wednesday April 12 it was evident that playgrounds bring out the kid in all of us.

Thirty adults are gathered in a large sunny room. We stand on blankets that represent the land. Turtle Island. Home.

Last month, the Bowen Island Lodge hosted the island’s second Philosophy Café (Café-Philo).

Saturday April 8 Opening for “Visiting the Happy Isle, a Paradise Playground” at the Museum and Archives, 12 - 2pm Logger’s Show Fundraiser at Doc Morgan’s Tickets $20 at the door, includes access to games as well as live music by Almost Famous.
