The Bowen Island Library’s first Living Library, held Saturday August 13, was a success by all measures. Four Bowen islanders generously offered their afternoon to tell library patrons about their lives.

Bronwyn Churcher and Christian McInnis have made their departure from Bowen, but are waiting patiently for their real adventure to begin on August 24. “We have about a year planned out,” says Churcher.

One of the good things that come with summer on Bowen Island are the students who take on jobs at community organizations.

Since 2003, 56 students from Bowen Community School have received a gift of books from the memorial fund created in Carolynne’s memory.

Congratulations to Jasmine Gish and Nathan Beatty, recipients of $1,200 scholarships from First Credit Union.

Now having completed Tourism Bowen’s first full year as a registered non-profit society, we are doing some navel-gazing and planning for next year! Tourism Bowen is a 100% volunteer run organization.

Children at the Bowen Island Children's Center (BCC) have been lovingly tending strawberry plants all summer. On Sunday, those plants will be up for sale - by donation - at the Ruddy Potato.

Six years ago the Rotary Club of Bowen Island took over the Run for the Ferry and we are still at it! This is a multi-generational event as apart from the 10km and 5km runs starting at 9:00 am, we also encourage walkers to do the beautiful 5km trail
