Open letter to the community: The Bowen Island volunteer firefighters (BIVF) wish to thank the community for all the support we have received over the past several months in the face of the dispute by Municipality.

Dear editor: Ten years ago, a dedicated group of volunteers came together to create one of Bowen Island’s best-loved institutions: the Knick Knack Nook.

'Since my return, I have been subjected to an escalating level of verbal aggression, personal attacks and other humiliating actions. I have been verbally abused and threatened at municipal hall. I have been spat upon on my way to work. I have been subjected to written abuse on social media,' writes Lalonde.

Dear Bowen Island community: Our future is in jeopardy. Our future is being destroyed. Our future doesn’t leave us with much hope. It’s time to take action against climate change. Recently, Canada declared a climate emergency.
