Thirty-five years after the first Terry Fox run, Canadians are still going strong to raise funds for cancer research by running, walking, and biking every September.

This Olympics marks the second time that females have been included for boxing. Three weight classes were represented in Rio.

Last year’s logger sport event at Bowfest gave Bowen Islanders a taste of competitive axe throwing, pole climbing and cross-cut sawing.

Seventy-two golfers between the ages of 8 and 14 descended upon Bowen Island Golf Club this week to compete in the BC Bantam and Novice Golf Championships. Eleven of those young players come from the North Shore.

Following the Loggers’ competition on Aug. 20, golfers and non-golfers are encouraged to attend the BC Bantam Provincial Golf Championships.

Bowen Islander Bruce McTaggart, paddling a double surf ski with partner Ian Lowe, earned bragging rights in the gruelling Round Bowen Challenge Saturday, after the duo circumnavigated the island in just over two and a half hours.
