In what may have been the largest off-island migration of Bowen Islanders, 370 boarded the Queen of Cap last Sunday, Oct. 2 more than 10 per cent of Bowen - and headed to the newly refurbished B.C.

The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club's 26th Commodore Cup at RVYC was held from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3 and was a special one for Bowen. The Island sent 11 competitors to the event.

After years of training together in the BICS gym, eight gymnasts from Bowen Island ventured to Lausanne, Switzerland for the 2011 World Gymnaetrada event in July. They were representing Canada at one of the biggest mass sports events in the world.

Bowen Island co-ed soccer league's fifth season came to an end recently with a tournament on the turf field. The season had 10 teams of 10 players, the largest pool of teams and players yet.

We do this for the love of the game! There was a great turn out at Sunday's Soccerfest when 200 kids celebrated the Bowen Island Football Club soccer season wrap up.

Sunday, June 12 is an opportunity to celebrate Aaron Sluggett's life and support an endowment fund that ensures that selected Bowen graduates have a head start in university tuition fees.

BICS athletes were part of the 50-member BICS track and field team who headed over to the district track meet at West Van Secondary on Tuesday morning, May 31.
