Following up on our spring information session on Concussion, Bowen Island Caring Circle is offering a four-part series of educational workshops to provide strategies for people who have suffered a head injury.

Last year the Community School Association (CSA) wrapped up a year-long Bowen Grows project with the first Bowen Grows Feast: a community feast for 250 people of all ages that was held in the BICS gym.

“Get out of the blood zone!” says a Bowen Island Cub Scout to one of his friends, following a short lesson on knife skills.

“Whoever said ‘there’s no use crying over spilled milk’ obviously never pumped six ounces and accidentally spilled it.

“We’re all in the same lifeboat now,” said Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas as he addressed the audience at Simon Fraser University on Sept. 22, lighting up a windowless, institutional lecture hall with his eloquent and urgent words.

Snug Cove House volunteers were eager to get BowFest community feedback about our recent plans regarding selling 12 lots on Miller Road, and the progress on planning our seniors’ supportive living residence.

Last spring, the board of the Knick Knack Nook decided to dedicate a chunk of money to a new bursary for Bowen Islanders following “alternative paths” environmental learning.

Bowen Island Community School is hosting its first student science fair and we need your help. We are looking for scientists from all disciplines for the following: Mentoring students during one or more after-school sessions Monday, Oct.

On Sunday Oct. 9 the Bowen Community Foundation will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly created Garden Gateway and will simultaneously launch its annual giving campaign, For Bowen, For Ever.

The heavy rains had broken to a slight drizzle by the start of this year’s Nature Dive and the smaller crowd of 50 or so people who made it our event had an intimate view of the marine creatures on display.
